
Steve Minihan is a financial planner with more than 13 years of experience in the financial services industry. He provides comprehensive financial planning, retirement planning, investment management, insurance and tax planning services to private clients. He applies personal financial planning models that explicitly account for future market uncertainties and conducts special investment analyses as needed by his clients.
Steve’s prior experience includes President of PayPoint Electronic Payment Systems, Inc., a stand-alone subsidiary of ARCO. He also held senior financial management positions in Corporate Finance, Strategic Planning, and financial operations in ARCO's corporate and operating organizations. He was involved in numerous complex financial transactions and analyses. Prior to his corporate experience, he was a Senior Economist and the Director of Economic Analysis at the U.S. Department of Energy. He advised the Secretary of Energy on policy issues, and presented policy proposals in testimony before Congress, briefings to Cabinet members, press conferences and briefings to industry representatives at the White House.
Steve has a MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and a BS in Economics from Florida State University. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM professional, an Enrolled Agent, holds Series 24, 7 and 66 securities licenses, and has a California insurance license. He has taught over 120 courses in Investments, Financial Analysis and Tax Analysis in the UCLA and UC Santa Barbara Extension certificate programs in Personal Financial Planning. He is also a Volunteer Tax Preparer for the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program.
Steve lives in Westlake Village, California, with his wife, Susan. They have a son Greg who is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara and works in the entertainment industry. Ten years ago, Steve qualified as a kidney donor for his nephew Ryan who had suffered kidney failure and was on dialysis. Ryan has returned to a full and active life and we are grateful supporters of the UCLA Kidney Transplant Program. Steve grew up in a military family with three brothers and enjoys playing golf, skiing and spending time with his family.
